| How to properly take care of your Piercing Tools.
1) Gather all tools you plan to clean into your clean room.
2) Turn on your sink and let the water run till its warm. Do not let it get hot.
3) Rinse your instrument with the warm running water.
4) Soak your instruments in a neutral pH(7) disinfectant/cleaner for 10 minutes. Crosszyme works well.
5) Ultrasonic clean your instruments for 10 minutes. Make sure you leave your instruments in the open position.
6) Once ultrasonic is done, allow your instruments to air dry.
7) Spray with Surgical instrument lubricant. Sklar Instru-Guard Lube works well.
8) Once sprayed, again allow your instruments to air dry.
9) Place your instruments in a sterilization bag in the open position and autoclave.

Q? I see brown marks on my tools, why are they rusting?
A: Actually what you are seeing is a brown stain caused by a surface deposit from a cleaning solution with a high pH. Low pH detergents can cause severe pitting, corrosion, and black stains. That is why it is recommend you only use neutral pH(7) detergents to clean instruments.
