STRAIGHT BARBELLS - straight piece of body jewelry with a ball on each end
Barbells are probably the most common body piercing jewelry after rings. The most common place you will see a straight barbell is in the Tongue.
Typically a 14g 5/8" is the standard size for most Tongue piercings. One usually gets pierced with a 14g 3/4" or 7/8" Steel Barbell to allow for swelling. Once the swelling of the tongue has reduced it is recomended to replace with a shorter barbell. PTFE is a nice alternative to steel or titanium and is a lot easier on your teeth and gum line.
