Streamlined Deluxe Gold Plated Quarter Inch Jack Mono Plug

This streamlined gold plated quarter inch jack mono plug has smooth, sleek lines, making it as stylish as it is functional. It's highly conductive and resistant to oxidation and corrosion. The mono plug is supplied with a gold flashed cable strain relief and will accept cables up to 8mm in diameter. The cable strain relief itself measures 25mm long, the quarter inch jack mono tip is 30mm long, the shell (body) is 38mm long, and once fully assembled, the whole 1/4" jack mono plug measures 75mm long.

Why Use a Gold-Plated Quarter Inch Mono Plug?

    • The concentration of free electrons in gold metal is 5.90 x 1022 cm-3. Gold is highly conductive to electricity, and it's been used for electrical wiring in some high-energy applications.
    • Though gold is attacked by free chlorine, its good conductivity and general resistance to oxidation and corrosion in other environments (including resistance to non-chlorinated acids) has led to its widespread industrial use in the electronic era as a thin layer coating over electrical connectors of all kinds, thereby ensuring good connection. For example, gold is used in the connectors of more expensive electronics cables, such as audio, video and USB cables. The use of gold in other applications in electronic sliding contacts in highly humid or corrosive atmospheres, and in use for contacts with a very high failure cost (certain computers, communications equipment, spacecraft, jet aircraft engines) remains very common, and is unlikely to be replaced in the near future by any other metal.
    • Besides sliding electrical contacts, gold is also used in electrical contacts because of its resistance to corrosion, electrical conductivity, ductility and lack of toxicity. Switch contacts are generally subjected to more intense corrosion stress than are sliding contacts.
    • Fine gold wires are used to connect semiconductor devices to their packages through a process known as wire bonding.

Ensure compatibility between standard (non-custom) PainfulPleasures body jewelry parts using the tables below. More information on threading, including custom thread patterns, can be found in our Threading Infocenter article.

Internally threaded jewelry has a threaded post on the top and/or end, which is then inserted into a threaded hole in the barbell shaft.

    Internal Thread Patterns by Gauge

    18g, 16g

    14g, 12g

    Internal Thread Pattern

    0.8mm or 0.9mm

Externally threaded jewelry has a threaded post on the barbell shaft, which is then inserted into a threaded hole in the top and/or end.

    External Thread Patterns by Gauge

    18g, 16g
