Since our Natural Line is made from the best Craftsman there is very little variations between pieces.

This piece is the most fragile piece we have on our site. Extreme Caution is recommended.

Hypnotica - how is she made ?

Hypnotica was especially problematic.

ORIGINAL METHOD: There is an inner metal wire in the shape of the design. Upon that
wire, with holes drilled in the middle to secure them on the wire, are small
blocks of horn.

NEW METHOD: These are being made by a new carving group now. The carver that previously made this design is no longer working with us. We had shown the new carver how they were made and he assured us he could do the same.
We thought the wire was still being applied. When my partner asked about why the wire was no longer present.....our carver replied that it was a long and tedious method which could be modified by simply a better way.

Then a wood cast was carved in the shape and each size of the hypnotica design. The skeleton wire with horn attached was then placed in the wooden cast and white resin was poured in to fill in the spaces between each piece of horn.

The resin adhered to the horn as it dried,...then it was sanded down to a smooth finish. Then the whole piece was polished to a smooth shiny finish.

There is no glue or varnish in the piece
