Important: The Black version is a specialized variation of Derm Shield and is not identical in wear or performance to the Clear version. It's designed specifically for short-term use when added concealment or UV protection is needed — such as during travel, outdoor exposure, or situations where the tattoo should remain fully covered. Because of its formulation, Black Derm Shield is more delicate on skin and may not be intended for extended wear periods.

Like all Derm Shield products, it acts as a protective barrier against dirt, bacteria, and abrasion to support a clean, comfortable healing environment. However, users should expect a more sensitive wear profile compared to Clear.

With its opaque black finish, the bandage completely conceals the tattoo while helping shield the area from light exposure during early healing. Your tattoo remains fully hidden until removal — ideal for customers who prefer privacy or need added protection in sun-exposed environments.

Product Composition & Performance

Recovery Derm Shield is a lightweight, waterproof composite film bandage comprised of three layers: EVA film, matte PU film, and glassine. The matte PU layer provides breathability and flexibility while maintaining a secure protective barrier.

Recovery Derm Shield bandages are latex-free and designed for skin compatibility, though Black is formulated for more limited-duration use compared to Clear.

Directions for Application:

Gently clean and pat dry the tattoo and surrounding area, ensuring there is no soap or residue on the skin. With clean gloves, remove Derm Shield from the sterile pouch. Cut the Derm Shield to cover the tattooed area plus a 1–2 inch margin beyond the edge.

Peel off the backing and apply adhesive side to skin. Begin at the center and smooth outward to reduce air bubbles. Do not stretch during application.

The first application should remain in place for approximately 24 hours depending on fluid levels. It is normal for blood and plasma to collect beneath the bandage.

Additional applications may be used as needed, with gentle cleansing and drying between changes. Do not exceed one week of total wear time across applications.

Note: Black Derm Shield is intended for temporary use during periods of sun exposure or when full tattoo concealment is desired. It may feel more delicate on skin compared to Clear. 

Directions for Removal:

Gently peel the Derm Shield back over itself slowly from the edge. Do not pull upward. Support skin as needed during removal.
